I’m a little put off by the age verification requirement. What is expected of me?
Good instincts! And believe me, we get it.
It’s good to be wary about putting your personal information out there! But the reality is that we have to keep Discord safe - for minors and adults.Trust us when we say we don’t want your personal information. This is why we offer a variety of options, ranging from a GDPR/CCPA-compliant tool to human verification. Within the Human verification option, we provide several methods to verify that you’re of legal age. We allow you to hide all information that is not relevant to our purposes (such as your legal name, biometric data, identification number, etc) - effectively, no more than what you’d do when giving your ID to a clerk when buying alcohol. We also offer options that do not require your ID (though they still need human verification).We don’t need your information; we want to confirm you’re an adult.
Why don’t you mark the community as Age-Restricted?
It’s really dumb
Marking the entire server as “Age-Restricted” actually limits access. Yes, this means minors can’t access the server, which is good, but we have several members of the server who are iOS-only.**For whatever reason, on iOS, Discord requires you to use a desktop device to bypass the blocked feature. However, we have members on our server who, by choice, do not have a computer.Further, at present, Discord’s “age verification” for the US is simply a checkbox confirming that you are over 18.

I use the fic to explore such topics as the housing crisis, healthcare in America, systemic racism and voter suppression, poverty, community and mutual aid. I love to build cosplays! My current builds are "Off-Duty Hawks," featuring his famous paisley jacket from the manga, and a Nomadic Merchant from Elden Ring.I also build OCs for Ren Faire, including my combo costume/puppet Gnollan the Gnoll.
